Musui | Removing discoloration

Enameled cast iron pots can develop discoloration when cooking with highly pigmented ingredients such as tomato sauces or curries. If your pot develops discoloration, follow the steps below.

Cleaning steps:

1. Apply a sufficient quantity of non-abrasive cleaner or cookware-safe bleach solution to cover the discolored area of the pot.

  • For non-abrasive cleaner, we recommend Bar Keeper's Friend Soft Cleanser

  • For the diluted bleach solution, we recommend a ratio of 1 tablespoon of bleach to 2 cups of water

2. Let the solution soak up to a few hours.

3. Gently scrub the discolored areas with mild dish soap and a soft sponge to remove them.

Note

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents and/or scrubbing pads (metal brushes, scouring pads, etc.) to clean the pot, as these may damage the enamel coating.
