Quick-Start Guide Oven Pot 2.0

Thank you for purchasing the Vermicular Oven Pot 2.0. We’re excited for you to start cooking with it.
Below, you'll find helpful cooking and cleaning tips to ensure you enjoy your Oven Pot for years to come.

Handling the Oven Pot 2.0

Here are a few important things to keep in mind when using your Oven Pot 2.0:

  • Coat the rims with a thin layer of cooking oil to prevent rust, especially during the first few uses.
  • Use medium or low heat for best results; avoid high heat.
  • Avoid using metal utensils for cooking.

Cooking with your Oven Pot 2.0

With exceptional thermal efficiency and Vermicular’s precision seal, the Oven Pot 2.0 excels in both slow and fast cooking methods like searing and stir-frying, enhancing versatility in the kitchen. Below are techniques and tips tailored to the Oven Pot 2.0:

Steam-roast
The Oven Pot’s unique ability to steam and roast simultaneously results in vegetables that are tender on the inside with caramelized textures on the outside.

  • The key is to sear first before steam-roasting.
  • Always cook with the lid on.
  • Make sure the ingredients are not stacked and are in contact with the surface to achieve a nice char.

Refer to the Cooking Guide on page 15 of the enclosed recipe booklet for step-by-step instructions.

Sear & Stir-fry
The Oven Pot 2.0's quick and even heat distribution makes it ideal for searing and stir-frying. Stir-fried dishes, like fried rice, achieve a light, fluffy texture and perfect flavor every time.

  • Preheat thoroughly on medium heat for at least 2 minutes.

Musui "waterless" cooking
Unique to Vermicular, you can make soup without adding water or broth by gradually heating the ingredients. The precision seal locks in natural juices, intensifying each ingredient's pure flavor and umami.

  • Chop vegetables finely and evenly; smaller pieces will yield more broth.
  • When layering vegetables in the pot, add ingredients with higher water content first.
  • Always cook over low heat. Gradual heating draws out natural juices and intensifies the umami in each ingredient.

Braise & Stew
Whether you’re cooking fork-tender short ribs or fall-off-the-bone pork shoulder, the Oven Pot 2.0 excels at building flavors. Start by searing the meat directly in the pot, then cook low and slow.

  • Minimize braising liquid, as the precision seal will keep liquid from evaporating.
  • As a rule of thumb, reduce slow cooker recipe cook times by half (½) or even by a third (⅓)

Note: Do not use the Oven Pot 2.0 with high heat or preheat it empty over medium heat for more than 7 minutes, as this may cause permanent damage to the enamel coating. If you accidentally heat an empty Oven Pot 2.0 on high heat, do not add water to cool it. Instead, allow it to cool down to room temperature naturally.

Cleaning your Oven Pot 2.0

We recommend washing with mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Never scrub with force or with abrasive cleaners to avoid damaging the enamel coating.

Always dry the pot immediately after washing to prevent rust on the rims. If rust does appear, it can be easily removed using mild dish soap or baking soda on the affected area.

For more details, refer to the Care Instructions on page 13 of the enclosed recipe booklet. For step-by-step cleaning methods, including rust removal, visit our Help Center.
